I can’t believe how quickly a year can pass by. It only felt like yesterday when I was in San Jose for my first appearance at The Good Sam Show.
It was great to be back in sunny California. This year’s show was busier than ever. There were record numbers of visitors through the doors and the buzz of chatter continued into Sunday.
I was lucky enough to join Ruth Stewart’s class making a celebration cake. It was great to watch Ruth making the tiny roses for the decoration. Mine looked like triffids in comparison.
As always I brought back many goodies which will appear on my website very soon. But here is a sneak preview.
I extended my stay by another day after the show to take part in Alan Hamer’s class, learning how to construct flower pots with copper sheet and solder. The great thing about these artist workshops and classes is learning what goes into the design and making of their miniatures. It gives me great insight into the complexity that is involved in these little things.
It was also great to catch up with some friends again. My table was opposite Carol Kubrican who makes the most adorable 48th scale miniatures. I have several of her kits at home waiting for my attention.
IGMA (International Guild of Miniature Artisans) was there with their Gallery of the Guild table, looked after by Mary Yount. There was an amazing array of miniatures from many of the Guild’s members, their table was a show on its own!
So now it’s all over for another year but I know it will only be a blink of an eye before I’m back again.
See you all in California next year!
